VIJAYAWADA: Tangirala Soumya, daughter of late MLA Tangirala Prabhakara Rao, filed her nomination as TDP candidate for byelections to the Nandigama Assembly constituency Friday. She submitted two sets of nomination papers to the returning officer and DRDA PD P Rajinikantha Rao at tahsildar’s Office in Nandigama.
Earlier, Soumya paid respects to her father at Tangirala Ghat in Nandigama. She arrived at the TDP office and took part in a rally accompanied by Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas, Machilipatnam MP Konakalla Narayana Rao, Krishna ZP chairperson Gadde Anuradha, Jaggaiahpeta MLA Sriram Rajagopal and others to file the nominations at the tahsildar’s office.
It may be recalled here that the Nandigama Assembly seat has fallen vacant upon MLA Tangirala Prabhakara Rao’s sudden demise in June this year.
The election is scheduled to be held on September 13.
Soumya, who is a software engineer by profession, had campaigned for her father during the 2014 General Elections and has been actively participating in party activities in the constituency after her father’s death.
