Supreme Court Team Visits Schools in Vizianagaram

VIZIANAGARAM:A three-member committee constituted by the Supreme Court, inspected some schools in the district Saturday.  The team, led by Supreme Court Senior Judge Ashok Kumar and consisting of TV Ratnam, G Venkateswara Rao as its other members, visited the Jonnada High School in Denkada mandal. They verified whether basic amenities like toilets and drinking water were available at the school.

Justice Ashok Kumar said that the team was inspecting schools as per the orders issued by the Supreme Court. Severe action would be taken against schools that lack basic facilities, he added.

After inspecting the schools at Chinna Amakam, Rajula Tammapuram, Boddupalem, Pinathadivada, Udikalapeta and other mandals, members of the team met district collector MM Nayak at the Zilla Parishat Guest House. Around 19 schools were inspected by the team in Denkada, Vizianagaram, Gantyada, Bondapalli, Gajapathi Nagaram and Bobbili till date.

Joint director of the Education Department MR Prasanna Kumar, DEO G Krishna Rao, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan project director Sarad and other officials accompanied the team.
