Study to be Undertaken for Irrigation Facilities

SANGAREDDY: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao said a high-level study will be carried out to find out ways and means to provide irrigation facilities for the areas, where there are no irrigation projects in Telangana State.

During his maiden visit as the minister to Siddipet, his Assembly Constituency on Sunday, Harish Rao said TRS is committed to the promises made in his election manifestos and now that it had formed the government it will keep each one of them.

He said that study will be carried ouat as part of the promise made in regard to irrigation for one lakh acres in every constituency. He said tanks will be repaired and strengthened to ensure the rain water is harvested for future use. “In my own constituency every effort will be made to bring another two lakh acres under irrigation,” he said. Pranahita Chevella project will bring irrigation waters to majority of areas in Medak district, he said and reassured the farmers on Government’s commitment to waiver of loans to the farmers up to `1 lakh. “There should not be any doubt on the issue. KCR had promised and that promise will be kept. Don’t get carried away by the apprehensions raised by the opposition parties,” he said.

Reminding that he had often visited the constituency as MLA, Harish said that now as a Minister he is duty bound to visit all over the state. “However, I will definitely spend one day in a week in the constituency,” he said while seeking cooperation of the people in his efforts to develop Siddipet and the party to develop Telangana as a whole.
