Naidu Seeks Assistance to Rebuild State

NEW DELHI: On a mission to ensure that all commitments made to residual state of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday met several Union ministers, including Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, and urged them help the state develop brick-by-brick.

Naidu, who arrived here on Thursday morning, had a hectic day meeting various Union ministers and some of the foreign delegates. During his one-hour-long meeting with Union Minister for Power Piyush Goel, Naidu explained the factual position in the state after bifurcation and requested him to allocate coal for power generation. After the meeting, the Power Minister said the state-run NTPC has agreed to let the government use its racks by the Railways for transportation of coal to produce 500 MW additional power in AP thermal power projects in the next two to three months time.

“The Centre is working towards providing good quality electricity at affordable tariff to Andhra Pradesh in the next one year and help the southern state initiate power reforms,” Goel said.
