Tsundur Case: HC Verdict to be Challenged in Apex Court

HYDERABAD: To bring the atrocities committed on Dalits and marginalised communities to the fore, civil society and political parties should jointly build a nationwide movement, CPM Politburo member BV Raghavulu has said.

Speaking at a ‘maha dharna’ organised by the Struggle Committee for Justice to Tsunduru Dalits at Indira Park here on Friday, the CPM leader took exception to the High Court’s verdict acquitting the 21 accused in the case. Judgments such as those would not augur well for a democratic country like India, he said.

CPI former state secretary K Narayana said there was enough circumstantial evidence to prove the guilt of the accused.

Struggle Committee chairman Bojja Tarakam said that a dharna would be staged outside the collector’s office in every district in the state on June 16 to protest against the “undemocratic” judgment delivered by the High Court.

The HC verdict would be challenged in the SC after the summer vacation, he announced.
