VISAKHAPATNAM : Even as the nation celebrated Teachers’ Day Friday, the headmaster of a government school in Salur mandal was allegedly thrashed by the members of a women’s organisation reportedly for harassing one of his female colleagues. However, no official complaint was lodged either with the police or the district education officials.

Sources said that the headmaster and the female teacher of the school in Salur mandal had an argument Thursday when the former made indecent comments against her. Irked, the teacher sought the help of a women’s organisation. When an argument ensued on Friday again, she rang up the organisation members, who arrived and thrashed him. Though the victim prepared to lodge a complaint, members of some teachers’ union hushed up the issue.

“The incident came to our notice, but there was no complaint from the victim. The teachers need not fear and can approach us for proper action,” said an education official, on condition of anonymity.
