VISAKHAPATNAM : The Arilova police on Monday arrested two persons on charges of assaulting a person and looting cash from him at Jodugulapalem area on June 7.
According to police reports, E Anil Kumar and B Govind of Hanumanthuwaka area of the city assaulted AV Prakash, a private college professor in Vizianagaram and resident of Seethammadhara area of the city, while the latter was going on a bike alone at Jodugulapalem area on June 7 at around 8.30 pm.
Police said that en route Prakash stopped near a shop at Jodugulapalem for buying something. All of a sudden, Anil and Govind hit Prakash severely on the face and other parts of body and fled from the spot on a bike with his purse.
The shopkeeper intimated the emergency services who rushed and shifted the grievously injured Prakash to a hospital. Police said that Anil and Govind were addicted to vices and are alcoholics.
They noticed Prakash going all alone late in the evening of June 7 and assaulted him. The police nabbed the accused on Mudsarlova outskirts and recovered `400 from them out of the looted `700. The arrested were remanded.
