VISAKHAPATNAM:As the district education department is taking stringent action against the unrecognised schools, some of the managements have formed a syndicate and are lobbying with the MLAs and MPs.
The illegal school managements, pointing out the career of the thousands of students, are pressurising the officials not to initiate action through MLAs and other influential persons in the government, at least for the current academic year. The managements promised the Education department that they would get the recognition certificate from the government at the earliest.
Some of the correspondents contacted leading corporate institution managements to help them come out of the crisis. They are informing the MLAs and MPs that no single parent lodged a complaint against any unrecognised school in the district. The managements took a dig at the Education department’s raids on the institutions as the parents have been willingly admitting their children into their schools. Some of the correspondents of the illegal schools met in a hotel and discussed ways to tide over the crisis.
According to sources, one of the TDP MPs assured them that he would speak to the higher authorities on the issue and asked to maintain cordial relations with the local education department. Some of the correspondents informed the MP that they had already applied for the recognition and files have been pending with the department. However, the officials of the Education department turned a deaf ear to their pleas and threatened to shut down the institutions.
“Yes, it is not correct to conduct schools without government recognition. However, in view of the welfare of thousands of students a solution has to be found. As the government announced and implemented the Building Regulation and Layout Regulation schemes for the illegal buildings and layouts what is wrong if the scheme was extended to the unrecognised schools. We will surely intervene to find a way out. If the schools don’t utilise the regularisation scheme those schools can be closed down,” said a senior TDP leader who is fighting for illegal school managements.
Meanwhile, the Education department did not announce the number of raids conducted and schools seized Tuesday.
Special Scheme Mooted
Like a BPS and LRS, the government should announce a special scheme to get recognition by imposing penal fee on the unrecognised schools, the TDP leaders suggested.
