HYDERABAD: Upping the ante against the Modi government for not sacking External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao on Sunday staged a dharna in the city demanding that the duo be dismissed and former IPL boss Lalit Modi arrested.

Rao, who staged the protest at the Amberpet crossroads along with a number of his supporters, also advised AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi to tour the entire country to ‘expose’ the BJP government.

He wanted Rahul to launch an all-out attack against the BJP for remaining silent over its ally TDP’s alleged involvement in the cash-for-vote scam.

The Congress had dropped Pawan Kumar Bansal, Ashwini Kumar and Shashi Tharoor without much ado from the UPA regime when mere allegations of corruption had surfaced against them, he recalled.

Taking potshots at the BJP’s oft-repeated slogan, achche din, he wanted Modi and BJP president Amit Shah to come clean on Swaraj’s involvement in helping a person accused of money laundering.

“The BJP had made a lot of hullabaloo about corruption and crony capitalism. But what is it doing today is exactly the opposite of what it had promised, shielding money launderers and fugitives,” he alleged.

He also demanded that Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan explain his position on the BJP’s alleged support to a fugitive and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu’s alleged involvement in the cash-for-vote scam.
