

VISAKHAPATNAM: Large number of organisations and NCC cadets participated enthusiastically here in the Yoga Day celebrations on Sunday.
Yoga Centre at VSP
Around 300 employees, including senior officials, took part in the celebrations, organised by RINL at Ukkunagaram. Director (Personnel) GBS Prasad inaugurated the event and stressed the importance of Yoga in daily life. Yoga embodies unity of mind, body and soul. Prasad mentioned that they would start a Yoga Centre in the township. Authorities of the Sports Department said that yoga brings about a holistic approach to health. Gurus A Kanaka Rao and AV Shyamala conducted the sessions.
ENC’s Mass Campaign
Multiple activities were conducted by the Eastern Naval Command on the occasion of Yoga Day. A mass Yoga campaign was organised at the INS Circars, where around 250 Naval personnel along with their families enthusiastically participated. Indian Navy is celebrating this maiden event as “Yoga across the Oceans” wherein ships from Eastern Fleet on overseas deployment also celebrated the Yoga Day where the ship’s crew performed Yogasanas in mid-ocean. A Yoga session onboard French Naval Ship Dixmude was conducted under the supervision of a qualified Yoga instructor, a member of the Naval community.
ECoR Marks Yoga Day
Officers and staff of Waltair Division observed the day with enthusiasm. DRM Chandralekha Mukherjee said that Yoga provides internal energy and strength to remain fit and energetic. She also felt that the international day, being observed in 177 countries across the globe, would revive the Indian disciplines of mental and spiritual happiness. Yogacharya N Suryanarayana who has been practising yoga for the last 25 years said that the Yoga Day was observed on June 21, the longest day of the year, a day connected with Sun, Light and Nature.
GITAM Holds Rally
GITAM University organised an awareness rally near Tenneti Park Sunday followed by a Yoga demonstration with a large number of NSS volunteers and faculty. University vice-chancellor G Subrahmanyam, pro-vice-chancellor D Harinarayana, registrar M Potharaju and several other professors took part.
CII Holds Spl Session
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Young Indians (YI), Visakhapatnam Chapter, organised a Yoga session for Industry members here Sunday. Representatives of industry, including CEOs, employees and their families, members from the educational institutions took part. ISHA Foundation members who took part in the programme taught the benefits of Upa Yoga, which is a simple yet powerful system of exercise that activates the joints, muscles and energy systems.
NSTL Celebrations
Around 180 members of NSTL celebrated the the day on their premises here. Director-general (Naval Systems & Materials), DRDO, V Bhujanga Rao inaugurated the celebrations. NSTL Yoga practitioner A Visweswara Rao led the session. On the occasion, Bhujanga Rao expressed happiness that people came forward to participate in the event. Yoga guru Ramakrishnanda, NSTL director CD Malleswar and others took part.
1,950 Cadets Take Part
Members of NCC took part in the Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhaptanam and Vizianagaram districts. Commanding Officer of 13 Andhra Battalion of NCC unit Colonel VN Bhardwaj said that a total of 1,950 cadets from 16 colleges and 21 schools had undergone Yoga sessions, conducted by instructors from AYUSH authorities. The sessions are going to take place for 14 more days at 11 am, MVP Colony, and St. Anthony’s Aided School, MR College, Vizianagaram. Group Commander, NCC Group HQ Visakhapatnam Commodore VVS Raju took part. Meanwhile, around 256 boy cadets and 194 girl cadets of 2(A) Arty Bty NCC, Visakhapatnam, underwent Yoga capsule programme at AU Silver Jubilee grounds.
YHAI, YMCA Campaign
A large number of people, including children and women, took part in a Yoga campaign conducted by Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI) here Sunday, while Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) organised the campaign at the YMCA Symphony Hall.
