7 Bike Lifters, 9 Buyers Arrested

VIJAYAWADA: City police have arrested seven persons on charges of lifting bikes and nine others for purchasing them knowing fully well that they were stolen. The police recovered 10 bikes from them worth `2.5 lakh.

According to police commissioner AB Venkateswara Rao, the accused would steal bikes from busy areas like PVR, Ramesh Hospital, Lenin Centre using duplicate keys and sell them.

The arrested were A Ratna Rao, B Krishna, B Nagaraju, M Vijaya Durga Prasad, Manda Rajasekhar, Nalliboina Srinivas and Kadimi Durga Babu. As bike lifting is comparatively easier, they have been stealing them.

The nine purchasers live in Vissannapet in Krishna district. They are: T Murali, K Nageswara Rao, K Raju, K Ramulu, B Vengala Rao, B Koteswara Rao, K Kshatria, B Krishna and B Vinod Kumar.
