GUNTUR:The Police Parade Grounds in Guntur is gearing up to host ‘Venkateswara Vaibhavotsavam’, a prestigious programme taken up by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) for propagating spiritual values and Venkateswara Bhakti Tattva from April 10 to 18.
Assembly speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Rao flagged off Prachara Rathams (publicity vehicles) for the prestigious programme on Friday.
TTD joint executive officer P Bhaskar, who reviewed the arrangements being made, released wall poster and other publicity material for the programme. Speaking to mediapersons on the occasion, he said following the overwhelming response to the programme held for the first time in Visakhapatnam last year, the TTD had decided to conduct it in Guntur.
He said not all are able to visit Tirumala and participate in every ritual, hence TTD had decided to facilitate devotees to have a glimpse of those rituals performed on a daily basis in Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara, in their own city, that too for free.
”All Arjitha Sevas that are being offered to Lord Venkateswara from dawn to dusk in Tirumala temple will be performed during these nine days in the replica of the temple set up at the police grounds,” he said.
Even special weekly sevas like Visesha Puja on Monday, Astadala Pada Padmaradhana (Tuesday), Sahasra Kalasabhishekam (Wednesday), Tiruppavada (Thursday), Abhishekam (Friday) will also be performed apart from Suprabhatam, Thomala, Archana, Kalyanotsavam, Dolotsavam, Brahmotsavam, Vasanthotsavam, Sahasra Deepalankarana Seva and Ekanta Seva. On the final day (April 18), the programme will conclude with Srinivasa Kalyanotsavam.
Narasaraopet MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, HDPP Special Officer S Raghunath, co-ordinator Sairam and others were present. The TTD is spending Rs 50 lakh on the programme, while another Rs 60 lakh was donated by devotees so far.
