Medha to Address Public Meet in Tullur

HYDERABAD: Even as the State government is moving forward to take up the construction works of the new capital city near Tullur, some of the local formers belonging to the capital region are making efforts to organise a public meeting in Tullur on April 9 by mobilising farmers from the villages that were earmarked for the new capital city.

Noted social activist Medha Patkar is likely to take part in the public meeting to be held at Penumaka village which falls under the new capital region.

She is also expected to visit some villages in the capital region and interact with local farmers to know their objections over State government’s efforts to construct the capital in the fertile Krishna delta.

“Medha Patkar will be visiting the affected villages in the new capital region of AP to express her solidarity with the local farmers who are demanding that the new capital be built mainly on government lands and not on lands which are under cultivation,” Donti Balaji Reddy, farmers’ leader, who belongs to Undavalli village told Express over phone.
