State Govt for on Modern Farming: Dy CM

RAJAHMUNDRY:  To encourage farm mechanisation in the state, the state government is giving a subsidy up to 75 per cent to farmers to purchase farm machinery. As part of it, the government tabled a separate budget with Rs 5,400 crore allocation for the agriculture sector, said deputy chief minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa.

Participating in the swearing-in ceremony of the Pithapuram Agriculture Market Committee new executive body at Pithapuram on Monday, the deputy chief minister said that the government is taking steps to make agriculture a profitable profession.

Minister for Finance Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said the government sanctioned Rs 1,400 to stabilise Agriculture Market Committees for the benefit of farmers. There is a need to strengthen the market committees which are playing a key role in the agriculture sector, he said.
