HPCL Issues Rs 1.14-Cr Student Scholarships

VISAKHAPATNAM:As a part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) and SC/ST component plan, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL)-Visakh Refinery distributed scholarships to students belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD communities of 11 government degree colleges in the district Tuesday.

At a programme organised at Waltair Park, joint collector J Nivas and HPCL director (refineries) BK Namdeo distributed the cheques to the students of five colleges. Addressing the gathering, Nivas advised the students to dream big and have persistent efforts in achieving the goals. He also advised them utilise the scholarship amounts for the pursuit of their goals.

Namdeo explained the activities of the HPCL and informed that for the first time, the company distributed scholarship worth Rs 1.14 crore to 11 colleges in the district, thus benefiting 2,050 students. . The HPCL had been giving scholarships to the students of weaker sections in and around Visakhapatnam for the past few years, he added.

HPCL-Visakh Refinery executive director G Sriganesh welcomed the gathering. Chief manager-HR J Jayaraj, chief liaison officer P Krishnavataram and HPCL SC/ST Employees’ Welfare Association president Ramanamurthy also participated.

HPCL senior manager (PR) US Sarma, manager (OL) T Mahadev Rao, senior officials of HPCL and principals and students of colleges were present.
