Mission Indradhanush Inaugurated; Ganta Assures Amenities at Government Hosps

VISAKHAPATNAM:Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao launched Mission Indradhanush a Central government scheme to immunise children at Agnampudi PHC here Tuesday, on the occasion of the World Health Day. As part of the mission, the district administration will provide immunisation to all children aged below two years, who have missed vaccination or have been partially vaccinated.

Explaining the importance of the programme, Srinivasa Rao said that it helps eradicate seven childhood diseases and was launched in Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Kurnool districts in the first phase. He requested the parents to immunise children in time to ensure their health and added that every child should be delivered only in a hospital.

The minister assured to provide better amenities in all government hospitals in the district and also fill the vacant posts of doctors.

MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao and MP M Srinivasa Rao and senior officials were present at the launch.

RINL Holds Health Walk

Meanwhile, as part of the World Health Day, the sports department of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) in association with Steel Walkers’ Club organised a ‘Walk for Health’ at Trishna Grounds in Ukkunagaram Township here Tuesday.

The organisers mentioned that the event was aimed at bringing about awareness among the RINL employees and their families about the importance of physical fitness.

Director (personnel) and chief guest GBS Prasad complimented the sports department and the Steel Walkers’ Club for their efforts in conducting the event and assured to extend necessary help towards improving the facilities for walkers of Ukkunagaram Township.

Executive director (F&A) GN Murthy, general manager (HR) T Sunder and SEA president Y Garg took part.

Health Edn Dept at NRI Hosp

City-based Queen’s NRI Hospital opened a health education and preventive healthcare department on its premises.

Inaugurating the centre, hospital chairperson Ch Vijayalakshmi said that the department helps create awareness among the public about diseases like cancer, heart attacks, diabetes, pains, etc. The doctors would counsel and also suggest tips to the patients, she added.
