SRIKAKULAM:High Court judge, Justice U Durga Prasada Rao, exhorted petitioners to avail of services of Lok Adalats to get cases settled expeditiously. The adalats would help settle cases expeditiously, he said. Justice Durga Prasada Rao inaugurated the National Lok Adalat by lighting a lamp on the premises of the district court here Saturday, as per the call given by the National Legal Services Authority and the State Legal Services Authority.
On the occasion, Justice Durga Prasada Rao said the mega adalats would go a long way in rendering justice to the petitioners by out-of-the-court settlements through mutual agreement. The adalat would be organised on the second Saturday of every month and various cases would be settled by mutual agreement among the litigants, said the HC judge.
Since there are more criminal cases than civil cases in the district, the judge advised the SP to refer the criminal cases to the lok adalat for their expeditious disposal. The police should take the initiative to refer cases to the lok adalat. Justice Durga Prasada Rao handed over papers of judgement case to the petitioners concerned on the occasion. Justice Durga Prasada Rao, also the district portfolio judge, was felicitated by the district bar association.
