VISAKHAPATNAM:A married woman and her paramour allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in the agricultural fields on the outskirts of Kodavatipudi area under Kotavuratla police station limits in Viskahapatnam district. The incident occurred Friday night, but came to light only on Saturday.
According to the police, A Appala Naidu (25), a farmer in Kodavatipudi village, reportedly developed an extra-marital affair with one K Venkata Lakshmi (35) of the same village. When Venkata Lakshmi’s husband KJ Babu and her in-laws learnt about the relationship, Babu admonished the duo and asked them to end the relationship. Venkata Lakshmi, a native of S Suravaram area of East Godavari district, was married to Babu about 15 years ago and the couple have two daughters. On Friday night, both Appala Naidu and Venkata Lakshmi reportedly went to the nearby agricultural fields and consumed poison.
Kotavuratla sub-inspector of police J Ramesh said that an empty poison bottle was recovered from the spot. The police registered a case and sent the bodies for postmortem.
