Jobs to Polavaram Evacuees

POLAVARAM:The Government has decided to provide jobs in the Indira Sagar Project (ISP) to the unemployed youth from among the ISP evacuees and has issued necessary directives to the project officials concerned in this regard, according to Irrigation Devineni Umamaheswara Rao.

Disclosing this at a news conference here Sunday,  he said that the government had also decided to develop all the irrigation project areas as tourist spots and added that it was taking steps to revive the water way between Kakinada and Krishnapatnam.

The minister who visited the ISP, the ISP Right Main Canal and  Pattiseema and Tadipudi Lift Irrigation Schemes, for the second consecutive day on Sunday, reiterated that the TDP government was keen on completing all the pending irrigation projects and added that the progress of the works on the irrigation projects would be reviewed once a fortnight. He also said that the revival of the waterway between Kakinada and Krishnapatnam was on the priority list of the state government.

MP Maganti Venkateswara Rao, Polavaram MLA M Srinivasa Rao, Kovvur MLA KS Jawahar and Iirrigation Department Engineer-in-Chief M Venkateswara Rao were among those who accompanied the minister during his inspection tour of the irrigation projects.
