Andhra Bans Entry of Poultry Products From Telangana

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh government has banned entry of poultry products into the state from Telangana after a bird flu outbreak in a village there.

"We have alerted district authorities to stop poultry products from Telangana. Entry of poultry products from Telangana has been banned," AP Animal Husbandry Department's Additional Director K Krishna Murthy told PTI here.

"We have told the transport department to stop the movement. We have also deployed our staff," he said.

On Tuesday, over 20,000 birds were culled in Thorrur village on the outskirts of Hyderabad in Ranga Reddy district after the bird flu outbreak was confirmed, he said.

Authorities in Telangana said an estimated 1.45 lakh birds would be culled within the radius of a kilometre of the infected poultry farm, which has been declared an infected zone, as per the standard procedure prescribed by the Centre.
