Traffic Restrictions for IPL Matches

VISAKHAPATNAM : Preparations have picked up pace for the forthcoming cricket matches to be held as part of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, at YSR Cricket Stadium in PM Palem of the city on April 16, 18 and 22.

The city police have imposed traffic restrictions and made arrangements for vehicle parking at the venue. The RTC will run special buses for the benefit of cricket enthusiasts. The restrictions will be in force on April 16 from 4 pm till midnight and also on April 18 and 22 from 12 noon to 8 pm. Any vehicle parked near the stadium, except for the designated places, will be towed away and cases under section 283 of IPC and section 122 MV Act will be registered. On roads leading to the YSR Cricket Stadium and near the stadium, only vehicles with tickets for cricket matches will be allowed on NH-16 between Yendada and Car Shed Junction towards the stadium. The NH-16 between Yendada and Car Shed Junction will be open only for vehicles coming from Srikakulam to Visakhapatnam, while vehicles in the reverse directions except those with tickets for the cricket match will not be allowed.

Separate Parking Lots

All vehicle passes should be pasted in front of the vehicles. VVIP vehicles should enter stadium from the main gate and park the vehicles on the south side parking lot. VIP vehicles should be parked in the parking lot near the B Ground. Media vehicles should take diversion at PM Palem traffic police station and park their vehicles near Sri Venkateswara Temple on the road leading to HB Colony. Both the government and police vehicles should be parked in the vacant land behind Narayana College opposite the stadium. Two-wheelers of officers on duty should be parked in Malathamba School premises near the PM Palem traffic police station.

Route for Cricket Special RTC buses

RTC buses can take diversion at Marikavalasa and park the buses  at Pepsi Bottling unit on the 100-feet road in Mithilapuri. Similarly, RTC special buses from Visakhapatnam should travel via MVP Colony, Appughar, Sagarnagar, Rushikonda and Timmapuram and towards Vignan School and Kapuluppada to park the vehicles at the designated parking place in Mithilapuri. After the match, the vehicles parked in this area will be allowed to leave via Marikavalasa towards Srikakulam and Vizianagaram, while those going towards Vizag city will be allowed to leave after the players leave the venue.
