Samaikya Activists Cases not Lifted Yet

TIRUPATI: Police are harassing those who have participated in the Samaikyandhra movement even after the state government announcing that all cases filed during the agitation would be lifted, leaders of the erstwhile Samaikya Andhra Parirakshana Samithi (SAPS) have said. They appealed to police to withdraw the cases registered against them.

The SAPS leaders attended the court here on Friday in connection with a case filed based on a complaint lodged by Congress party senior leader V Hanumantha Rao during the Samaikyandra agitation. Police filed cases against 10 of us, they said.

They only gave flowers to Hanumantha Rao and expressed their protest in a novel way during the agitation following his statement of chasing away Seemandhra employees from Hyderabad immediately after the formation of separate Telangana state, they said.
