VIJAYAWADA: Legal metrology department officials conducted raids on gold shops in Vijayawada, Guntur and Ongole from April 16 to 20. In Vijayawada, 26 cases were booked under the AP Legal Metrology Act 2011, seven in Ongole and 15 in Guntur.
The department on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on April 21 advised the people to ensure the scales used in gold shops and showrooms are correctly calibrated and have been certified. People were also asked to check for net weight of gold, net weight of stones used in ornaments, prices of them in itemised manner in the bill.
They are advised to approach legal and metrology department officials to lodge any complaints.
