Demo Marks Fire Service Week at BHEL

VISAKHAPATNAM: As part of the National Fire Service Week, the fire department of BHEL-HPVP conducted a fire demonstration to create awareness among all the employees on the plant premises here Monday. Plant executive director J Sankaran was the chief guest, while general manager (Operations) D Asokan, general manager (Human Resources) B Phaneendra Kumar and senior deputy general manager (Human Resources) Arun Paul were special invitees. The demo was attended by the representatives of various trade unions and employees.

During the demonstration, various types of fires were put out by the fire personnel using branches of trees and sand. Oil fires were created and were doused using carbon dioxide extinguishers, DCP and mechanical foam extinguishers. A hut that was set on fire was put out by using water jet from a fire tender.

At the end of the demo, Sankaran emphasised the importance of fire safety and advised fire personnel to take all preventive measures to prevent fire incidents, which is better than extinguishing.
