CS Nod to Kill Rabid Dogs

VIJAYAWADA: Krishna district collector Babu A has said that chief secretary I Y R Krishna Rao has asked the officials to take up mercy killing of rabies-infected dogs.

In a video conference of the chief secretary with district collectors Tuesday, Babu A said the former reviewed the measures taken up for control of dog population in the wake of a six-year-old girl being mauled to death in Guntur district a week ago.

Babu A said that there was a lack of proper facilities at animal houses where mass vaccination was done. He said existing facilities were only sufficient to deal with 100 dogs. He said they were preparing plans to address the issue coordinating with municipal and panchayat officials.

Issues pertaining to ‘Neeru’Chettu, Smart Village and forest lands were discussed and shortage of surveyors was brought to the notice of chief secretary, he added. Joint collector G Chandrudu also attended.
