Reprieve To Revanth Reddy

HYDERABAD: In a reprieve to TDP MLA A Revanth Reddy, the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday stayed all further proceedings, including his appearance before the court, in a case registered against him in the lower court for his alleged remarks on chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Justice MS Ramachandra Rao passed these interim orders in a plea by Revanth Reddy seeking to quash the case pending against him before the III Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Hyderabad.

The petitioner submitted that a private complaint was filed by an advocate K Goverdhan Reddy seeking action against him for the offences punishable under Sections 504 and 505 of IPC. The lower court took on file the said complaint and numbered it and that the police filed chargesheet after investigation.  The judge took note of the fact that the complaint was not filed by the person against whom the alleged defamatory statements were made.He called for the records and stayed further proceedings.
