Krishna River Board Meeting on April 29

HYDERABAD: The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) meeting will be held here on April 29.

The Board meeting is likely to discuss  about release of irrigation water in the ensuing Kharif season to both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states, besides preparing fresh protocols for release of water.

There was no unanimity between the sibling states over sharing of Krishna waters ever since the state was bifurcated.

Whenever the Board meeting was conducted, heated arguments takes place between officials of both AP and Telangana.

There was a dispute between the states over maintaining the level at Srisailam also.

The TS argument was that the water should be released simultaneously for both AP and TS for Kharif season. Any move to release water to raise nurseries in AP first would be opposed by TS.

When the Board could not resolve the matter amicably, chief ministers of both AP and TS met governor ESL Narasimhan and resolved the matter during Rabi season.

Both the states were also opposing the attitude of the Board in not resolving the matter. It remains to be seen what the Board will decide in its meeting on April 29.
