Chilli Truck Hijacked

GUNTUR: A chilli-laden mini-truck was hijacked by four unidentified miscreants near Loyola College within the limits of  the Sattenapalle police station on Thursday.

According to Sattenapalli CI B Koteswara Rao, the mini-truck was carrying 58 tikkis (one tikki equals 30 kg) chillis to Guntur Chilli Yard from Machavaram village when the miscreants, who came in a Bolero truck (AP07TD3846), hit it from behind. When mini-truck driver C Ramesh Babu confronted them, they apologised.

However, a few minutes later, the same Bolero overtook the mini-truck and brought it to a halt by stopping in front of it. The miscreants, who were said to be in their early twenties, broke the windshield of the mini-truck with stones and thrashed Ramesh Babu and cleaner Yahona before taking away the mini-truck. The injured Ramesh and his assistant later lodged a police complaint.
