VIJAYAWADA: The city streets continued to stink with garbage truck drivers and cleaners striking work for the second day in running Friday.

Though VMC has engaged tractors to remove the garbage, only a small portion of it could be removed and the garbage is piling  up. Meanwhile, with the VMC commissioner issuing show-cause notices to the VMC Drivers and Cleaners Association, four drivers and cleaners joined the duty.

Taking a tough stance against irregularities at the vehicle depot, VMC commissioner G Veerapandian lodged a police complaint against four employees of the vehicle depot for unauthorised sale of fuel. Demanding withdrawal of the complaint, drivers and cleaners went on flash strike.
