VISAKHAPATNAM : Commercial clerk of Waltair Railway Division, Sarjubala Devi, bagged a gold medal in the 22nd President’s Cup Open International Boxing Tournament held recently at Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia.
Sarjubala Devi got the better of Russian pugilist Iseva Jaya in the final, as India ended with gold medal in the event. Devi landed a job under the sports quota (boxing discipline) in Visakhapatnam in 2014. She participated in AIBA World Women’s National Boxing Championship and bagged silver medal.
She bagged gold medals in the First Elite Women National Boxing Championship and All India Inter Railway Boxing Championships. So far, she bagged 19 gold in her boxing career and participated in the youth world championship.
