205 Stray Dogs Kept in Confinement Released

TIRUPATI: With a view to avoid inconvenience to pilgrims and vahana sevaks during Sri Padmavathi Devi Brahmotsavams at Tiruchanoor near Tirupati, the Tiruchanoor gram panchayat Animal Care Land had caught 205 stray dogs and kept them in its confinement for the last 12 days. On Saturday, the Animal Care Land released the dogs into their original territories. Animal Husbandry joint director (Chittoor) M Srinivasa Rao participated as chief guest for the farewell lunch of the canines.

Animal Welfare Board of India co-opted member NV Srikanth Babu said that all the 205 dogs were de-wormed and vaccinated against rabies and 42 unsterilised dogs were sterilised. TTD’s Tiruchanoor Temple canteen served delicious food to the canines for the past 12 days, he added. Panchayat secretary M Janardhan Reddy also participated.
