4 Maoist Militia Members Nabbed in Vizag Agency

VISAKHAPATNAM: The rural police Sunday night arrested four Maoist militia members on the charges of being involved in activities including providing logistic support to Maoists, arson, murders and few other  illegal activities in Visakhapatnam agency.

The arrested were identified as L Nagaraju, P Pethuru, V Subba Rao, K Laxmana Rao, all residents of G Madugula area of Visakhapatnam agency.

According to assistant superintendent of police, Paderu, A Babujee, the Paderu police along with CRPF, based on credible information, nabbed the four militia members Sunday night.

In their investigation, they found that the members were involved in providing logistic support, helping the Maoists in making off with the nomination papers during the panchayat elections in G Madugula, and providing inputs for the murder of Bachali Balakrishna.

Police also said that on January 17, the four militia members guided Maoists to the ashram at Gudalam veedhi area that was set on fire, and helped them in the torching of a proclaimer at Gadigunta road in the agency. Cases have been registered against the accused.
