TD Bags 2 MLC Seats

VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has won the two MLC (Local Authority Constituency) seats - one each in Prakasam and Kurnool districts, defeating YSRC candidates by a wide margin at the end of counting of votes on Tuesday.

In Praksam district, TDP nominee Magunta Srinivasula Reddy won the seat with a majority of 711 votes, defeating YSRC candidate A China Venkata Reddy. Magunta polled 724 votes while Venkata Reddy secured 13 votes. Sensing defeat much early, the YSRC had declared that it was boycotting election alleging that the TDP was resorting to unfair practices like luring  YSRC leaders and holding MPTCs in camps outside the state.

In Kurnool, TDP leader Silpa Chakrapani Reddy emerged victorious with a majority of 146 votes, defeating his YSRC rival Venkateswara Reddy. The TDP candidate polled 610 votes while Venkateswara Reddy secured just 474 votes.
