Capital Ryots Seek 200 Days of Work

VIJAYAWADA:  Agriculture labourers, who have been thrown out of employment after the state government acquired farm lands under the land-pooling scheme for the construction of world-class capital for Andhra Pradesh, on Monday staged a dharna at the MPDO Office in Thullur mandal in Guntur district demanding that they be provided 200 days of work under NREGS.

CPM secretary Ch Babu Rao, who led the dharna, pointed out that if the government does not provide employment to them, they would starve to death.

Though the government has announced on January 1 that it would provide 300 work days, the promise has not been kept though it is more than seven months now.
