CHITTOOR: Municipal workers prevented political leaders from removing the garbage piled up in dumper bins, here on Tuesday.
Political leaders belonging to YSRC, Congress, CPI and CPM came onto the streets to clear the garage, but striking municipal workers obstructed them as their demands were still pending.
A heated argument ensued between workers and political leaders. Police intervened and shifted the workers to the police station.
At Nagari, striking municipal workers obstructed panchayat sanitary staff from clearing the garbage on Tuesday, resulting in the two groups exchanging fisticuffs. Panchayat worker Chengalrayulu was injured seriously in the incident.
Nagari police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Police shifted the injured to hospital and a case was registered against seven municipal employees.
