Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu banned his party leaders and cabinet ministers from taking part in debates or interviews in English news channels. Reportedly, the bizarre decision came after being embarrassed by their fluency in English.
Sources close to Naidu told the Times of India that the ministers were ineffective in putting forward the Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) point of view on the stampede incident at Godavari Pushkaralu in Rajamundry.
The ban came into effect after ministers Palle Raghunatha Reddy and P Narayana below par defense about the incident that killed 29 people in an English news channel.
“The chief minister has issued a directive to all ministers not to appear in English news channels. Only Galla Jayadev will be allowed to do so," the source said.
