2 Devotees Die in Auto Mishap

VIZIANAGARAM:Two persons died and at least six were injured when the vehicle in which they were travelling hit a container lorry in the wee hours Thursday in Bhogapuram mandal of Vizianagaram district.

According to sources, 20 devotees from Pusapatirega mandal of the district had gone to Tirupati about 20 days back for Srivari Seva. After Tirupati, they headed to Rajahmundry for a holy dip and returned to Visakhapatnam by train in the wee hours. After reaching Visakhapatnam, considering the rush in buses and trains, they booked two auto-rickshaws to reach their native villages. En route, one auto driver lost control over the vehicle and hit a container lorry  parked on the roadside. T Varalakshmi, aged around 35, died on the spot, while K Ellamma (32) died while undergoing treatment. The condition of the injured auto driver, hailing from Visakhapatnam and undergoing treatment in a hospital, is said to be serious. Six others in the auto survived with minor injuries. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
