8 Students Injured in Bus Mishap

VISAKHAPATNAM: Around 10 persons, including eight students, were injured when their college bus was hit by a lorry coming in the opposite direction near Sunkarametta junction at Anakapalle Saturday morning. All the injured are first and second year B.Tech students of Dadi Institute of Engineering and Technology (DIET) of Anakapalle area.

According to Anakapalle traffic inspector AV Leela Babu, the DIET bus was hit by a over-speeding lorry from Tanuku which was coming in the opposite direction at around 8.30 am near Sunkarametta junction. Drivers of both the vehicles and eight students were injured, two of them severely. Police and emergency services rushed to spot and shifted them to a local hospital. Two of the students were referred to KGH. Police said that over-speeding was the reason behind the incident. A case has been registered.
