VIJAYAWADA: Six accused in the alleged gang rape and murder of Himabindu in March, 2014 were acquitted by Mahila Session Court on Tuesday for lack of evidence against the accused.
On March 15, 2014, the victim Himabindu (41), wife of Sairam, a bank manager, was kidnapped from her house in Nalluri Satyanarayana Nagar, Patamata in the city by the six accused - Janapala Krishna (24), Velpuri Durga Prasad (22), Md Subhani (27), Somana Gopi Krishna (24), Lankapalli Ramana (22) and Md Gouse (37).
She was allegedly raped by the accused before being murdered.
