Government to Acquire Private Land for Bhogapuram Airport

The government has announced that the proposed airport is coming at Bhogapuram for which 3,873 acres of private land will be acquired from the farmers of eight villages.

VIZIANAGARAM: Now it is official. The government has announced that the proposed airport is coming at Bhogapuram for which 3,873 acres of private land will be acquired from the farmers of eight villages. Twenty habitations of nine villages will be displaced affecting 10,241 population for the Bhogapuram airport. However, the government has announced several sops to the people.

Addressing a press conference here Monday, minister for Rural Development and Housing K Mrunalini said that the Airport Authority has given its technical approval, after detailed observations of wind direction to establish the airport at Bhogapuram.

According to the estimations, 5,040 acres of land is required for the airport, of which the government has 1,167 acres. The rest would be acquired from private persons, the minister added.

The government would acquire about 800 acres of land in Kancheru and Kavulavada villages for the welfare of the displaced families. The government would also consider providing alternative house sites in Bhogapuram and Pusapatirega government lands, Mrunalini said. The government has decided provide highest remunerations than the Amaravathi capital displaced families. According to the estimations, 2,593 houses and 10,241 people would be displaced for the airport in Bhogapuram, the minister has said.

Collector MM Naik said that the Airport Aviation Academy would submit a detailed project report on cargo related issues. With the airport at Bhogapuram, the entire village would be developed and number of industries and other establishments would come to the district, the collect said.

ZP Chairperson Shobha Swati Rani, MLC G Sandhya Rani, joint collector B Rama Rao, MLAs P Narayana Swami and KA Naidu were present.
