SW Hostels to Turn Residential Schools

HYDERABAD:Reiterating that the state government is committed to the welfare of Dalits and tribals, Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Minister Ravela Kishore Babu said the government would soon take up an ambitious programme to upgrade all welfare hostels across the state into residential schools.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat here Saturday, Kishore Babu said the state government needs Rs 7,000 crore to upgrade all the welfare hostels into residential schools. He said 1,440 hostels are accommodating 1.14 lakh students and all the hostels would be upgraded in a phased manner.

Claiming that ‘Chandranna Samkshema Palana’ programme was a great success, the Social Welfare minister said the programme was getting good response from the people.
