VIJAYAWADA: The Postgraduate Medical Entrance Test (PGMET) 2015, held in AP and Telangana on Sunday, passed off smoothly without any reports of malpractices.

It was the first time the exam was conducted online for admissions to MD, MS and diploma courses for the academic year 2015-16 in colleges affiliated to NTR University of Health Science (NTRUHS).  As many as 5,891 students took the test from Andhra Pradesh out of 5,973 applied and out of 7,469 students, 7,332 attended the online examination from Telangana at 44 centres in both the states. The university authorities have closely monitored the examination to prevent malpractices by restricting mobile phones at the centres and installing mobile jammers.

“The response to the online exam was good and the process was a success. We are now contemplating conducting other exams also online,” NTRUHS vice-chancellor Dr T Ravi Raju said.
