KORUKONDA:Thousands of devotees witnessed the car festival of Lord Lakshmi Nrusimha Swamy here on Sunday, the first day of his five-day festival.
The festival commenced at 3 p.m. amidst chanting of ‘vedic mantras’ by pandits and ‘mangala vayidyams’ by temple musicians. ‘Garaga nrutyams, ‘kolatams’ and other cultural programmes were organised.
Heavy police bundobust was arranged on the occasion. At one time, the police found it difficult to control the devotees who came forward to pull the car.
Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy temple chairman IV Ram Kumar, executive officer E Jagannadham, sub-collector V Vijaya Rama Raju and hereditary trustee Ranga Raja Bhattar were present.
