VISAKHAPATNAM: Picture this: an over-flowing bin in the neighbourhood is bothering you and you want to report it. Instead of having to go all the way to the municipal office and cross several levels to get to the officials responsible for your ward and zone, you can just click a picture and WhatsApp it to GVMC directly. Or Tweet about it or share it on Facebook, tagging the GVMC officials.
Yeah! the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is taking the social media route to ensure speedy solution of public grievances. The online accounts are being handled by a five-member technical group in the GVMC office.
Using social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter along with mobile apps like Whatsapp, GVMC is aiming to reach out to the denizens and address their grievances in an effective manner. People can also post their grievances with photographs.
