VIJAYAWADA: As vehicle owners keep violating rules by using different sized number plates in different languages and colours, the transport department has started cracking down on the violators.
“No vehicle is allowed to use photographs, designs and posters on the number plates. But many of them are openly violating the relevant rules regarding display of the registration number in the front and rear of the vehicle.
So to curb the practice, we are going to take stringent actions against vehicle owners and those involved in stickering,” said DTC S Venkateswara Rao, in a press release, here on Monday.
He said private vehicles should have the registration number in black colour against white number plate and transport vehicles black number against yellow background.
