Stress on Imparting Leadership Training to Women Staff

VISAKHAPATNAM: Strategy consultant and Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI)-Hyderabad former dean B Kinnera Murthy has highlighted the need to conduct special leadership training programmes for women employees to further strengthen the leadership qualities among womenfolk in the organisations.

Kinnera Murthy was the chief guest at the ‘International Women’s Day’ celebrations organised by Women in Public Sector (WIPS) in Ukkunagaram here Saturday. She urged the women employees to stand up, become more professional, improve discipline and keep their efforts focused on the career ladder to achieve greater heights. She also stressed the need to adopt special HR policies, particularly for women, for realising the empowerment of women.

Women should focus on goals and inspire others to achieve success in their life. They should be the role models and inculcate the habit of discipline and sincerity, she said and complimented the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) management for its initiatives towards women empowerment.

RINL chairman-cum-managing director P Madhusudan said that success of women empowerment largely depends on realisation of gender equality and the steel maker was in the forefront as regards integrated growth of women and always supports women activities. The modern women were playing a bigger role in the society and called upon the women employees to demonstrate the potentiality to emerge as role models in the society, he felt.

DGM (personnel) and WIPS coordinator V Padmavati Prasad presented a report highlighting the achievements and activities of WIPS, while AGM Sarala compeered the programme. Later, the dignitaries released ‘Disha’, a newsletter brought out by the WIPS showcasing the talents of its women employees. They also distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions organised for women employees. Eight women employees including one contract employee were felicitated for their outstanding performance on the occasion.

Directors PC Mohapatra (projects), GBS Prasad (personnel), DN Rao (operations) and TVS Krishna Kumar (finance), CVO B Siddhartha Kumar, Visteel Mahila Samiti president Preethi Roy, vice-president C Gargeyi and representatives were present.
