Forum to Fight for Farmers’ Interests

VIJAYAWADA: Capital Region Farmers, Agriculture Labourers Protection Forum, constituted on Monday, will fight for the rights of farmers and farm labourers in the wake of the state government acquiring their lands by invoking the Land Acquisition Act. Former Justice of High Court P Lakshman Reddy and retired IAS officer EAS Sarma will act as honorary advisors to the forum.

The presiding committee of the forum will comprise former MLA Ambati Rambabu (YSRC), M Mallikharjuna Rao (Cong), P Bharathi and A Rmakrishna Reddy (MLA) and B Ramakrishna Raju  (Aam Admi Party).

Coordinators for the forum will be Prof C Ramachandraiah, Mallela Seshagiri Rao, Ch Ravi Kumar, Vissa Kiran Kumar, M Bhagya Rao, Jampa Krishna Kishore, Ravu Subrahmanyam and K Vinaya Kumar.

The forum will fight, among other things, for exemption of multi crop lands from land acquisition, publication of a white paper on what the government had done so far in the name of construction of capital, return of lands to farmers from whom consent letters were taken under duress, issue of employment guarantee bonds to those who are losing their livelihood and show them a way by means of which they would be able to get income not less than what they are getting now.
