HYDERABAD:  In a temporary relief to two IAS officers, the Hyderabad bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on Friday stayed their allotment to the Andhra Pradesh cadre and directed the authorities to continue the two women officers, A Vani Prasad and Karuna Vakati, in Telangana till March 25.

At present, Vani is working with the Telangana government as its commissioner of technical and collegiate education at Hyderabad and Karuna as district collector of Warangal. The bench comprising B Venkateswara Rao (member, judicial) and Ranjana Chowdary (member, administration) passed this interim order after hearing the two petitions filed by the women IAS officers who felt aggrieved by their allotment to the AP cadre. Vani Prasad’s counsel KRKV Prasad said that his client was born and brought up in Hyderabad and had her education right from LKG to PG in the city. But the authorities had erroneously shown her as a domicile of Guntur and that resulted in her allotment to AP, he pointed out.
