Speaker was Unfair to Opposition, says Jagan

HYDERABAD: Leader of the Opposition and YSRC chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday tried to corner Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kodela Prasada Rao alleging that Rao was unfair towards the members of the Opposition.

Jagan, who wanted to express his views on the issue of pending crop insurance and input subsidy amount to farmers of Anantapur district in the Question Hour, was not allowed by the Speaker to go into the details of the issue and his mike was cut frequently.

Annoyed over the Speaker’s action, Jagan accused him of deliberately not allowing him to speak on the issue as it would expose the State government.

Responding to Jagan’s allegation, the Speaker said he was not allowing Jagan to speak as he was deviating from the subject every time.

Then, all of the members of the YSRC went to the well and demanded the Speaker to allow their leader to speak. As the YSRC members were trying to disrupt the proceedings by staging protests, the Speaker adjourned the House for 10 minutes.

After the House resumed, the same situation continued and Jagan demanded that he be allowed to register a protest to which the Speaker agreed.
