Gali Seeks Moily Suspension from Cong

VIJAYAWADA:Taking strong exception to senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily’s comments in the ongoing Parliament session that special consideration should not be given to Telugu states, TDP politburo member Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu has demanded his immediate suspension from the party, that claimed to be fighting for the Special Status to the truncated state of AP.

Speaking to newsmen here on Tuesday, Naidu said it was the Congress which had hurriedly got the AP Reorganisation Bill passed without giving anyone a chance to discuss anything.  “It was important Congress leaders Veerappa Moily, Susheel Kumar Shinde, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Narayana Swamy and Chidambaram who had brought pressure on Sonia Gandhi and got the Bill, which was full of glaring gaps, passed in the Parliament,’’ he said.

He sought to know why the Congress was trying to divert the people’s attention from its mistakes, which had landed the state in losses on all fronts with programmes such as  ‘One crore signature campaign’. “To cover its ineptness and shortcomings, the Congress and its ‘offspring’ YSR Congress were trying to project Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu as anti-people. “There ploys will not have any effect, as people are well aware that Chandrababu Naidu is their true champion, who had kept his promises of issuing health cards to all government employees, increasing their retirement age and giving fitment of 43 per cent”, he said.

Earlier, participating in a party meeting to discuss the strategy to ensure the election of Krishna-Guntur MLC (teachers constituency) candidate AS Ramakrishna, he advised the party men to approach each and every teacher in both the districts and take them into confidence. He said the TDP government had been doing much for both teachers and government employees and this should be highlighted while interacting with the teachers.

Party urban convener B Venkanna said Ramakrishna has more awareness on teachers problems and can champion their cause more effectively than anyone. It should also be explained to the voters. District party convener B Arjunudu said efforts should be made for the victory of Ramakrishna with highest majority. Mayor K Sridhar, MLA B Umamaheswara Rao and others also spoke.

Meanwhile, taking offence at Veerappa MoilyÂ’s comments in Lok Sabha against special status and packages for Andhra Pradesh, TNSF burnt Veerappa Moily in effigy at Benz Circle. They demanded Moily to make an apology to Telugu people.
